Modpo South is an independent offshoot of Al Filreis' ModPo offered through Cousera by the University of Pennsylvania, but is completely created by Anthony Watkins and while Kelly Writers House and Al Flireis are very aware of our activities, they do not endorse, fund or otherwise have any legal connection to us.
Better than Starbucks - not your ordinary poetry magazine
is published monthly and features the best we can find in free verse, formal, haiku, translations and experimental poetry, insightful interviews, fiction and the monthly blog of publisher Anthony Watkins.
Modern & Contemporary American Poetry (“ModPo”)
is a fast-paced introduction to modern and contemporary U.S. poetry, with an emphasis on experimental verse, from Emily Dickinson and Walt Whitman to the present. Participants (who need no prior experience with poetry) will learn how to read poems that are supposedly "difficult." We encounter and discuss the poems one at a time. It's much easier than it seems! Join us and try it!
